  •  Then add scraped coconut (1/2 cup).
  • Add small pieces of onions and green chilli.
  • Next, add lime juice and salt
  • Then mix all of them smoothly.

Spinosa is a member of the family Araceae. It is native to Asia and New Guinea. Sri Lankans knew this plant as Kohila. It uses as a vegetable and medicine. Lasia Spinosa is an evergreen plant that grows 1-2 meters tall. The plant is grown in marshy areas, muddy streams and swampy ground.A lot of people like to plant it in their home garden because of its nutritional value. They cultivate it near the well which is the place of wastewater flowing area. Sometimes it is along the margins of their well or pond.

Lasia Spinosa is content with high fibre capacity. This plant is recommended for a variety of diseases in Ayurvedic medicine. There are five varieties in this plant. Kalu kohila, well kohila, Guru kohila, Kiri kohila and Goda kohila are some of them. All the parts of the plant are used as food. Leaves, tubers and roots that means kohila yams are taken as food.

  4. 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
  5. Red onion
  6. salt
  7. One cup of scraped coconut

Method

  1. Cut Kohila yams into small pieces like sticks and put them into      a bowl
  2. Add into cutting an onion, chillies and pepper
  3. Put the scraped coconut and enough salt
  4. Then add lemon juice
  5. Mix all of them together
  6. Put a white plate and serve.
